Banking and Finance

Dr. Ofeimun Omogbai Godwin was appointed a lecturer on 12th February 2016 in Accounting and Finance Department. He obtained Higher National Diploma (HND), B.Sc., and M.Sc., all in Banking and Finance from University of Benin, and a Ph.D in Banking and Finance from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka respectively. His current research interests include; Banking, Finance and Entrepreneurship. He was appointed the Coordinator of the Department in September 2023.

Aboutthe Department of Accounting and Finance

The Department of Accounting and Finance was created at the inception of the University in 2015. There are two programmes in the department; i.e., B.Sc. Accounting and B.Sc. Banking & Finance.

Admission into the University is through the Universities Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) programme of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). To gain admission into this department, a student must have minimum of five (5) credits level passes in the SSCE/GCE O level, NECO/NATEB or its equivalent, obtained in no more than two sittings. The five (5) credit passes must include English Language, Mathematics, Economics, plus one social sciences’ subject and any other one subject. Admission into the programmes of the Department shall normally be through the UTME and the university screening.

The Department is driven by its philosophy which is to develop well-grounded persons in Accounting and Finance Department. The courses are designed to impart both practical and theoretical knowledge to students generally.

The vision of the Department is to be a world acclaimed Centre for Excellence.
