Dr. Wisdom O. Anyim

Dr. Wisdom O. Anyim is a distinguished librarian, renowned academic, researcher, author, administrator, and the present University Librarian of Edwin Clark University, Kiagbodo, Delta State, Nigeria.

Prior to joining ECU, Dr. Wisdom was the former University Librarian of Rhema University, where his drive for innovation resulted in the re-crafting of the Rhema University Digital Ecosystem. As a Principal Officer, he provided policy advice to the Vice Chancellor and the Governing Council leading to successful implementation of several developmental projects, including installation of Smart Classrooms, transformation of the University E-library, improvement of the internet infrastructure and sustainability, building of state-of-the-arts Postgraduate Library, and the College of Medical Library from the scratch, assisting the University obtain full accreditation for all its programmes and graciously won 2021 United Nations’ Grant.

Dr. Wisdom was appointed Head of Library and Research Services by the wife of former Vice President of Nigeria (Atiku Abubakar).  In this role, he managed a multi-million dollar legal research Library that was globally recognised and rated best in Abuja. 

He is a versatile Librarian with expertise in every aspect of library operation. He was formerly the Head of E-library, Head of Technical Services, Head of Readers’ Services, Pioneer Head of Law library, and pioneer Lecturer in the Department of Library and Information Science at Salem University Lokoja. In his early career at Kwara State College of Education, Dr. Wisdom O. Anyim introduced and self-sponsored a community-based literacy programme, titled: “Book for Every Child” and distributed over 2000 books and other educational materials to school children in Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State, Nigeria.

In 2021, Dr. Wisdom was the only University Librarian selected from Nigerian Universities to represent Nigeria as a Panel Member in Ghana, during the Open Conversation of Librarians’ Conference for Africa, involving 21 African Countries. In the same year, he received a Commendation Letter from the Vice Chancellor, Professor O. C. Onwudike, on behalf of the Governing Council of the Rhema University, Nigeria, for his outstanding leadership and excellence in projecting the University to the global space. 

Having taught in various Universities in Nigeria, and was elevated to the rank of Associate Professor, Dr. Anyim has conducted globally recognised original research and published over 50 research papers in reputable international peer-reviewed journals with an impact record of about 400 citations in Google scholar. He has attended twenty seven (27) academic conferences, seminars and workshops locally and internationally with numerous paper presentations.

His research interests include management control system, Performance Management, Digital Libraries and Resources, Information and Digital Literacies, Information Access and Retrieval, Multimedia, Distance Learning, Digital Inclusion and Equity. He is open for collaboration. 

As an essential component of education, Dr. Wisdom O. Anyim has traveled extensively within and outside Nigeria, and visited numerous overseas libraries in the United Kingdom, Canada, Sweden and Dubai. This has enabled him to establish strong connections with notable names and experts in Librarianship and University Leadership. 

Dr. Wisdom O. Anyim holds a B.Sc., MLS and Ph.D. in Library and Information Science, from the University of Nigeria. He also has in his portfolio several professional certificates. He is a member of the Nigerian Library Association and Librarians’ Registration Council of Nigeria.
